The Dominica island is located between the Guadeloupe in the north and the Martinique in the south… This island is one of the greenest and the most mountainous of the Caribbean islands. Cape Verde is an archipelago of about ten islands located west of Senegal.

The entrance for sailboats could be done in Praia (Santiago Island), Mindelo (Sao Vincente Island) or Palmeira (Sal Island) which is our arrival destination.

Contrary to Praia or Mindelo, Palmeria is a small city. Life is peaceful, people caring and helpful. The official language is Portuguese. Few people speak English and even less French, which doesn’t...

AS we are crossing the Atlantic ocean, let's see back what happened in the last three years.

November 20, 2019

The entry for a sailboat, in Senegal, is in Dakar or Ziguinchor in Casamance.

At Dakar, the entrance is the “Cercle de Voile de Dakar”. A few years ago, it was a very important place for the navigators where around 100 sailing boats arrived in the Hann bay. Today, only 20 boats are there.

Political and economical situations during last few years could explain this situation, the majority of the people who go across the Ocean Atl...

We leave "Playa Papagayo" in the south of Lanzarote island, bound to Dakar.

The navigation, around 1000 nautic miles (1800 km), is planned to last 7 to 10 days depending on weather conditions.

Winds are good in direction and intensity, the sea is a little bit shaped, with waves between 1.5 and 2 meters but in the right direction for the next 5/7 days, and then the wind will decrease as we get south.

The first 4/5 days a...

Lanzarote : the black island

In the Canary Islands, our only stopover was on the island of Lanzarote, on the way to Senegal.

Like the other islands in the archipelago, Lanzarote is a volcanic island made of a vast land of lava: Montañas del Fuego.

In the national parc of Timafaya, the rangers put branches into lava holes, and the heat is so intense that they catch fire!

There are also many caves to visit, consequence of the m...

Direction the Canaries for 4 days of sailing off the Moroccan coast.

The second day of navigation, a smell of cow dung invades our cockpit while we are more than 30 miles from the coast !!

A cargo ship of cattle passes to hundred meters of us! Feeling such a smell in the open sea is simply improbable and even incredible !!

At the sunrise of the third day, we meet a small boat of sinners in action! Always nice to meet sailors whil...
